Another arrow headed straight for her heart. She watched as the other young women beside her were lead astray by the enemy’s lies.
It was time to take all that she had learned and put it into action.
Though the enemy disguised his lies as the truth, this young woman knew exactly what he was up to. For every deception he held out to her, words of wisdom came out of her mouth.
She trusted in her leader and, so far, he had never lost a battle.
The story above isn’t fake. In fact, it’s about as real as it gets. We aren’t necessarily being ambushed by literal arrows everyday, but we are being ambushed by lies. Girls, we’re all in a battle.
Everywhere we turn we are being pressured to give in to what this world says is true womanhood when, in reality, it’s nothing more than a counterfeit version of femininity.
I want to get honest with y’all right now. How we respond to the battles we face on an everyday basis determines our eternity.
Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Satan is doing everything he can to drag you down. His goal isn’t necessarily to make you the worst person you could possibly be. No, his goal is to give us a false picture of our Lord; to take our eyes off the One who gives true freedom.
I want to share with you 3 key points that are essential for preparing yourself for the journey ahead.
1. The battle is real
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
God tells us that the devil walks around only to destroy us. He tells us that so that we can prepare and be ready for when Satan tries to get us to buy into His lies.
One of the main keys to being a real woman ready to fight is being aware that there really is a battle.
Everything around us encourages us to find our worth and value in temporary things, but soon we find out that only Jesus love can truly set us free.
2. Jesus has overcome
“This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2 Chronicles 20:15
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
You may wonder, “If everything around me is trying to tear me away from God, how do I know that it will be worth it in the end?”
I have some good news! Jesus has already won the battle! Satan knows that Jesus defeated Him when He died on the cross, but he isn’t satisfied. His goal now is to bring down as many people as he can.
As Christians, we have the most amazing gift; the Truth. Jesus says that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He provides true fulfillment and joy. He loves us with an everlasting love.
We have been warned that we will have troubles in this world, but not to worry because Jesus has overcome the world! We just have to trust in Him and stand up for what we know is right.
3. God has given us weapons to fight
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity…” 2 Corinthians 10:4-6
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22,23
Even though Jesus already won the war, it’s our job to fight and use the weapons that He has given us to spread His love and freedom to those around us.
Girls and women everywhere are buying into the lie that they are only worth what they look like, how well-known they are, or how talented they are. Jesus gives so much more than that.
As we move through this 5-part series, my hope is that we will be ready to stand up for true, biblical womanhood.
It’s up to us to become real women ready to fight for God’s truth!
Come back for part 2 of this new series to find out what true, biblical womanhood looks like.
What are some ways that you have seen the battle rage in our culture?
