Embracing Purity With What You Wear: Interview With Rebekah Baird

“I want to dress modestly, but it’s so hard these days!”

“There seems to be nothing modest, yet fashionable anywhere.”

Have you ever found yourself saying similar things?

Giving up on modesty altogether seems like the only option. After all, we don’t want to look too outdated and old fashioned.

However, I’ve come to find out that here are still ways to look cute, yet modest.

This past week, I was able to get an interview with Rebekah Baird from the blog “Hello Modesty”.

She told me why she values modesty and how it has blessed her.

I hope her answers encourage and inspire you as much as they did me!

Q. What is the biggest reason that modesty is so important to you?

A. Modesty is so important to me because our culture has totally embraced the “raunch” style and has really thrown away modesty. Our bodies are a gift from God and shouldn’t be used to show off everything for anyone. We should cherish the gift of modesty and use our bodies for good, not to show off our skin.

Q. Sometimes dressing modestly can feel like a burden. What blessings have you received by wearing modest clothing?

A. Dressing modestly can be really hard, but it’s so worth it in the end. One of the biggest blessings from it is when other girls notice your modesty and say that it encouraged them to dress more modestly. Also, knowing that this is something that pleases God makes it 100% worth it.

Q. What is your favorite Bible verse that encourages you to honor yourself and Christ with your body?

A. I think my favorite Bible verse regarding modesty is 1 Timothy 2:9.

“likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire.”

This verse just speaks so much to the way women should dress and adorn themselves. It’s not about us looking so good on the outside, it’s about our hearts looking so good on the inside that it flows to the outside.

Q. If you could give one piece of advice to young women who want to honor Christ by their clothing choices, what would it be?

A. My little piece of advice for anyone wanting to embrace modesty is just keep pressing on and remember the end goal. Modesty isn’t about you, it’s about honoring God. When you have that perspective, modesty is so much easier and totally worth it! Always dress to honor Christ first and foremost.

Q. You have a blog called “Hello Modesty” where you show girls that they can dress modestly and fashionably at the same time. What are a couple ways that you have seen God work through your blog?

A. Through my blog “Hello Modesty” I’ve seen girls be encouraged to dress more modestly. It’s incredible! Girls say it’s hard for them to embrace modesty in such a raunchy culture, but through my blog they’ve seen inspiration that is modest yet cute and fashionable! I’ve been so amazingly blessed by blogging and encouraging girls to dress modestly.

Wow! I love her answers!
